ASBESTOS
Asbestos is a physically powerful and incombustible/fireproof fiber that was widely used in the past decades in heat resistant and fire fighting materials. Due to its fire retardant properties, asbestos was used in insulation, ship building, automobile, and construction and cement industries. It is a naturally occurring, microscopic fibrous mineral extracted from meandering rocks. These rocks are mined and crushed and fibrous stands of asbestos are taken out and dispatched to manufacturing facilities where they are used for insulation products and other materials.
There are three main types of asbestos: blue, brown and white, all strongly linked with mesothelioma.
It is found in form of silicate fibers that are very light in mass and can simply travel by air. These fibers or dust particles of asbestos are easily breathed in or swallowed and cause a range of diseases including asbestosis, a chronic lung disease; mesothelioma, cancer of the lining of lungs, chest and stomach and other fatal diseases.
Asbestos is made up of minute fibres which can be easily inhaled in if they are present in the air. The fibres work their way into the pleura, lining of the lung, causing exasperation and harm
